CMWSSB Online Water Tax Payment: How To Pay Chennai Metro Water Bill Online On CMWSSB Website?
The Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has issued a reminder to the public to pay their drinking water and sewage tax by the September 30 deadline. In an effort to make the process convenient, the Board has set up tax collection centers at all regional offices and its headquarters, which will be operational on all working days, including Saturdays.
In its statement, CMWSSB has clarified that payments can be made through cheques or demand drafts, which can be dropped into designated collection boxes available at these offices. For those preferring online payments, CMWSSB offers several digital options, including credit cards, debit cards, and net banking via its official website.

How to Pay Online:
Consumers can pay their dues easily by logging into the CMWSSB portal at this link. The board has introduced a user-friendly system to register for the web-based billing and collection service. Here's a step-by-step guide to the registration and payment process:
Register for Web-Based Billing:
- Click on the "Customer Registration for Portal Access" tab.
- Enter the CMC number and mobile number to register.
- Ensure the mobile number has not been registered before.
- Validate the mobile number using the One-Time Password (OTP) sent via SMS.
- Once the OTP is confirmed, the consumer will be successfully registered for online payments.
Login to the Portal:
- After registration, log in using your registered mobile number or email ID and the password created during registration.
- Alternatively, consumers can log in by entering their registered mobile number and validating the OTP sent through SMS.
Quick Pay Option:
- For faster payments, consumers can choose the "Quick Pay" option by providing the Property ID (CMC number) or registered mobile number, which will automatically retrieve the property details linked to the account.
- Find My Property:
- If consumers do not know their Property ID (CMC number), they can use the "Find My Property" feature. This allows users to search by entering their zone/ward and partial address or name to locate their property and proceed with payment.
By offering multiple ways to settle outstanding water and sewage taxes, the CMWSSB aims to streamline the process and ensure timely payments. Consumers are encouraged to take advantage of the convenient online payment options to avoid last-minute rushes and penalties.
