Chennai Engineering Graduate Befriends Women, Forces Them To Share Nude Clips; Arrested

An engineering graduate has been arrested by the Chennai cops for allegedly befriending women on Instagram and forcing them to share their nude videos.

The youth has been identified as Anand Babu from Porur. He has been working in an electrical shop.

The Seven Wells police apprehended him following a complaint from a woman who alleged that he had threatened her and demanded she pose nude during an Instagram interaction.

According to the police, this was a recurring pattern for Anand Babu, who possessed numerous videos of women complying with his demands, stored on his mobile phone.

Using someone else's photo as his display picture, he amassed videos of over 40 women over the past three months. The police stated that he habitually recorded all his video call interactions with these women, even resorting to threats to coerce compliance, warning of releasing previous videos on social media if they refused.

With the proliferation of digital communication platforms, instances of online harassment and exploitation, particularly targeting women, are on the rise. The case of Anand Babu, who manipulated social media interactions to coerce women into compromising situations, underscores the importance of vigilance. Women should exercise caution when engaging in online conversations, especially with individuals they do not know personally, to mitigate the risk of falling victim to such predatory behaviour.
