Bengaluru-Hosur Metro: 23 KM, 12 Stops Planned For First Cross-State Line
In a significant development for the transport sector, the Bengaluru to Hosur Metro service is becoming increasingly likely. The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is in the final stages of preparing a Detailed Feasibility Study Report (DFR) for the extension of the Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) line from Bommasandra in Bangalore to Hosur, passing through Attibele.
This plan, which has been approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu and directed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), is nearing completion.

Recently, Thiru M.A. Siddique, the Managing Director of CMRL, met with Thiru M.Maheshwar Rao, the Managing Director of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), at the BMRCL headquarters to discuss the details of the proposed metro line. This meeting, held on August 27, 2024, focused on the feasibility of the project, which will span 23 kilometers-approximately 11 kilometers in Tamil Nadu and 12 kilometers in Karnataka. The plan includes 12 metro stations and a depot along the route.
The discussion involved key officials including Thiru T. Archunan, Director (Projects) at CMRL, Thiru R.K. Reddy, Director (Project Planning) at BMRCL, Thiru T. Livingstone Eliazer, Chief General Manager (PP&D) at CMRL, as well as representatives from the consulting firms M/s Balaji Railroad Systems Private Limited JV and Habog Consultants Private Limited.
Following the meeting, the CMRL team and consultants traveled to Hosur for further discussions with local officials, including Tmt K.M. Sarayu, Collector of Krishnagiri, Thiru H.S. Srikanth, Hosur Municipality Corporation Commissioner, and Tmt Priyanka, Hosur Sub-Collector. These discussions were aimed at finalizing plans and addressing any regional concerns related to the project.
It comes at a time when the Tamil Nadu government is preparing to construct an airport in Hosur, which is attracting a lot of investments.
