All Eyes On DMK Meeting As Udhayanidhi Stalin's Possible Elevation As Deputy CM In The Spotlight

P Minister Geetha Jeevan had recently referred to Udhayanidhi Stalin as the "future Deputy Chief Minister," further fueling speculation about his possible elevation.

The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) has scheduled a crucial meeting of its district secretaries on August 16 at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam. The meeting will commence at 10:30 AM and is expected to focus on preparations for the upcoming Mupperum Vizha celebrations.

However, there is widespread speculation that the possible elevation of State Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin to the role of Deputy Chief Minister may also be on the agenda.

Despite the official agenda, rumours have been swirling about Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, being elevated to Deputy Chief Minister.

According to a report in the IANS, speculation has intensified in recent days, particularly after Tamil Nadu Minister Rajakannappan referred to Udhayanidhi as the Deputy Chief Minister during a public function. Although he quickly retracted the comment, stating that he might use the title after August 19, the incident has fueled ongoing rumours.

Adding to this speculation are reports suggesting that Udhayanidhi's elevation could occur before Chief Minister MK Stalin embarks on an official tour to the United States aimed at securing investments for Tamil Nadu.

DMK Organising Secretary and Tamil Nadu Minister for Water Resources Duraimurugan announced the meeting late on Monday night. He stated that the primary purpose would be to discuss preparations for the Mupperum Vizha celebration.

This annual event honours key figures and milestones in DMK's history, including the birth anniversary of DMK founder CN Annadurai on September 15, the party's foundation day on September 16, and the birth anniversary of Dravidian ideologue EVS Ramasamy Periyar on September 17.

Minister Geetha Jeevan's recent comment referring to Udhayanidhi as "future Deputy Chief Minister" has only added fuel to these speculations. The anticipation within party ranks and among political observers continues to grow.
