Chennai, Dec 11: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam on Sunday claimed that a total of 470 people died of grief and shock following the death of Jayalalithaa. The party also condoled their deaths and announced compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the deceased.

Earlier, on Saturday, the AIADMK had announced that 280 people had died following Jayalalithaa's illness and eventual death. The party released a compiled list of names of those such deceased persons from different parts of the state, including Chennai, Vellore, Tiruvallore, Tiruvannamalai, Cuddalore, Krishnagiri, Erode and Tirupur districts.

The AIADMK had previously claimed more than 70 people had died due to shock after Jayalalithaa was jailed following her conviction by a special court in disproportionate assets case.
