Gurgaon Development Authority to be set up: Khattar
Gurgaon, Sep 5: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that Gurgaon Development Authority (GDA) will be set up to ensure smooth its running of affairs and a project to develop the city as a 'Super Smart' will be implemented with a corpus fund of Rs 500 crore.
The process to set up GDA will begin on November 1, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the year-long celebrations of Haryana's Golden Jubilee, he said.

"Gurgaon has been brought on the global map and is known by different names like millennium city, global city, Smart City..we have a plan for its integrated development," he said.
Informing that formalities for setting up of GDA will be completed over the next few weeks, Khattar said, "Gurgaon Development Authority will be set up. I am making this announcement on the auspicious day of Ganesh Chaturthi.
Corporation polls will be held after GDA is formed."
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Nitin Gadkari will soon launch a project for construction of underpasses or flyovers at IFFCO Chowk to ease traffic congestion on National Highway number eight connecting Delhi and Gurgaon, Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk in Gurgaon, Khattar said.
Clamour had been growing for setting up of GDA, and Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh, who is also the local MP, had been supportive of it. Haryana minister Rao Narbir Singh had stressed on the need for Gurgaon Development Authority, in view the rapid urbanisation in the NCR.
Khattar said a Real Estate Regulatory Bill would soon be notified and construction of an expressway from Manesar to Kundli will begin within this month.

He also claimed that Haryana has jumped from 14th to seventh place in ease of doing business and the target is to make it reach fifth spot in the next few months.
A start-up warehouse incubation centre would also be made functional in Gurgaon. All hindrances in rapid development of Gurgaon are being removed, Khattar said.
Connectivity with Delhi is being improved. The Greater Southern Peripheral Road is being extended and has been declared as National Highway. The flyover on Manesar and Bilaspur crossings and repair of roads will be over by year end, he said.
There is a plan to have metro rail service from Sector 22 in Dwarka to IFFCO Chowk and between HUDA City Centre and Sohna Road. A Smart grid project has been prepared to supply electricity round-the-clock to Gurgaon. City Bus Service would be introduced in big cities including Gurgaon, Khattar said.
