Four drowned as jeep carrying them falls in canal, 3 rescued

Hisar, Sept 30: Four persons drowned while three others were rescued by the villagers with the help of police, when a jeep carrying them fell in to Petwar Canal between village Bhatol and Thurana, about 45 km from here.

The incident occurred last night when the jeep driver lost control over the vehicle when an animal suddenly appeared on road following which the jeep fell into the canal. It took one hour to fish out the bodies from the canal, they said.

The four victims have been identified as Jagdish, a teacher of Ghirai village, Banwari Lal of Dobhi, Baldev Singh of Panihar and Rajender Singh of Majra village in Hisar district, they said, adding the injured were admitted to Civil Hospital Hansi.

Police have registered a case in this connection.
