Economic Survey 2025 To Be Tabled In Parliament Today By FM Sitharaman Ahead of Union Budget
The Economic Survey, a crucial pre-budget document assessing the state of the economy over the past fiscal year, will be tabled in Parliament today at 12 pm by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
This comes just a day before the highly anticipated Union Budget for 2025-26. The survey will first be presented in the Lok Sabha at noon, followed by its presentation in the Rajya Sabha at 2 pm.

Compiled under the guidance of the Chief Economic Adviser, the Economic Survey is put together by the economic division of the Department of Economic Affairs within the Ministry of Finance.
It not only offers an overview of the country's current economic condition but also provides projections for the coming financial year.
The survey is often seen as a precursor to the Union Budget, offering insights into its possible direction.
Its presentation marks the beginning of the Budget Session of Parliament, which will run until April 4. There will be an inter-session break from 14 February, with proceedings resuming on 10 March.
The theme of the Economic Survey is also significant, as it helps set the policy tone for the Budget. Last year, the theme focused on *economic resilience*.
The Economic Survey was first introduced in 1950-51 as part of the Budget documents. However, in the 1960s, it was separated and has since been presented a day before the Budget.
Before the Union Budget is unveiled, it is customary for the Prime Minister to chair a Cabinet meeting, where ministers are briefed and final approval is sought.
Additionally, ahead of the Budget presentation, President Droupadi Murmu will address a joint sitting of Parliament today.
