Odisha: Woman, newborn dies in hospital, mob protest
Kendrapara (Odisha), Aug 12: A woman and her new born child died at Kendrapara district headquarters hospital here sparking mob protest.
As the news of death of a 32-year-old pregnant woman due to medical negligence spread, the mob comprising the locals beat up the Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Binayan Prusty and ransacked his office chamber, police said.

A doctor of obstetrics & gynaecology (O & G) wing was also beaten up. Police later rescued both of them.
A local Urban Body councillor Hizbur Rehman alleged that Kudratun Nisha, wife of a daily labourer was admitted at the obstetrics & gynaecology (O & G) ward of the hospital and died as doctors on duty delayed in attending her.
Rehman said she gave birth to a still born child following which she profusely bled and the doctors allegedly left her unattended resulting in her death.
Kendrapara SP Nitinjeet Singh said police forces have rushed to the spot and situation has been brought under control.
CDMO Binayak Prusty though he had been told that the patient was brought to hospital in critical condition, an inquiry is being conducted.
