Chief Minister Majhi has instructed senior police officers to treat women complainants with utmost respect and care, regardless of the time they arrive at police stations. This commitment stems from a historical conviction rate of only 9.73% for these crimes between 2000 and 2022.

To address this, the Chief Minister has tasked the Director General of Police (DGP) with submitting a detailed report within a week. This report will cover the current state of crimes against women, conviction rates, and pending investigations at the district level. Further actions will be decided in consultation with the Law Department. The goal is to create an environment where women and girls can move freely without fear.

He directed Deputy Chief Minister Parvati Parida to contact the victim directly and instructed local authorities to take necessary measures, resulting in the arrest of three accused individuals.

In 2024, reports emerged that the previous government ignored its Forest Department's advice and allowed tree cutting for industrial development in Sundargarh, despite its ecological importance.
