Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 Halted Amid Prolonged Delay, Chariot Pulling To Resume Tomorrow

The annual Rath Yatra faced an unexpected delay on Friday when the Nandighosa chariot of Lord Jagannath was stalled without any apparent reason. It eventually started moving at 7:45 PM. Initially, the chariot was pulled a short distance before activities were paused for the day. The Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration assured that chariot pulling would continue the following day.

Meanwhile, other chariots encountered issues as well. The Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra got stuck at Balgandi Chhak, and the Darpadalana chariot of Devi Subhadra halted near Marichikot's Town Police Station. Despite these setbacks, Law Minister Pruthviraj Harichandan stated that all rituals were conducted on time with Lord Jagannath's blessings.

Chariot Pulling Resumes

Pruthviraj Harichandan mentioned that pulling Lord Balabhadra's chariot takes considerable time, contributing to delays. He noted an increase in devotees compared to previous years, which added to the delay. "Due to the delay, we had to halt the chariot pulling as per the ritual, and it will be continued tomorrow morning," he explained.

The minister reassured devotees that they would have another chance to participate in pulling the chariots the next day. This year's event saw a significant turnout, highlighting its importance and devotion among attendees.

Despite challenges, all rituals were executed as planned by 4 PM.
