Will Bengaluru city gets its own minister?
Bengaluru, Aug 21: There may be some good news for the residents of Bengaluru. The city is all set to get a minister for Bengaluru affairs. The government of Karnataka is contemplating appointing a minister to look after the affairs of Bengaluru and the announcement is likely to be made after the results of the BBMP elections are announced.
Many residents of the city say that this is welcome news as Bengaluru was in desperate need of a minister to manage its affairs. There are issues that are specific to the city and currently it was being managed by an in-charge minister.

CM to announce minister for Bengaluru:
Although the official announcement will be made by the Chief Minister only after the results of the BBMP elections are out, the government has given clear indications about this move. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has often been criticized for not focusing enough on the city.
Several residents had also complained that developmental work was moving at a snail's pace as there was no one to take a call on matters where the city was concerned.
Currently, the affairs of the city was being run by Ramalinga Reddy who has been given the in-charge portfolio of the city.
However, there have been complaints that an in-charge minister was unable to do much since the files were ultimately cleared by the Chief Minister which was only leading to a delay.
Decision would depend on BBMP elections result:
The decision to have a minister exclusively for Bengaluru is still being considered. Sources say that the Chief Minister is serious about it, but a lot would depend on the results of the BBMP elections. If the Congress were to win the elections, then the announcement may come in no time.
In the past successive Chief Ministers have been in charge of the affairs of the city. The Chief Minister has always had the final say when it came to the BDA, BBMP or the BMRDA. If a minister exclusive to the city is announced then it would be he or she who would be in charge of these agencies.
