Tragic Accident in Tumakuru Claims Three Lives, 20 Injured As Private Bus Hits Divider

A tragic road accident occurred in the early hours of Monday, December 2, in the Sira area of Tumakuru, Karnataka, where a private bus collided with a road divider. This unfortunate incident resulted in the death of at least three individuals and left 20 others with injuries. The bus, which was en route from Goa to Bengaluru, was carrying 29 passengers at the time of the mishap.

The accident occurred early in the morning at around 4:30 AM in Sira, with injured passengers quickly transported to a nearby hospital for medical care.

Following the crash, local authorities swiftly responded, transporting the injured to a nearby hospital in Kallambella for medical treatment.

Tumakuru's Superintendent of Police, KV Ashok, visited the scene for investigation.

In a separate but equally tragic incident, a young Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, Harsh Bardhan, lost his life due to a road accident near Kittanegadi village in Hassan taluk. The 26-year-old officer, a native of Bihar and a civil engineering graduate, succumbed to injuries sustained when a police jeep overturned.

Bardhan, who had achieved the 153rd rank in the UPSC examinations on his first attempt in 2022, was undergoing training. He had recently completed his training in Hyderabad and was participating in a four-week program at the police training centre in Mysore when the accident occurred, leading to his untimely death around 9:30 pm on Sunday, December 1, due to bleeding.

The loss of Harsh Bardhan is deeply felt within the community and amongst his colleagues. Bardhan was recognized for his academic achievements and dedication to public service.
