Renukaswamy Murder Case: Chargesheet Against Darshan Thoogudeepa Expected This Week

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, along with Pavithra Gowda and 11 others, was arrested on June 11 for the murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga. The police stated that Renukaswamy allegedly sent abusive messages and photos to Gowda on Instagram, leading to his murder.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda announced on Tuesday that the chargesheet in the Renukaswamy murder case is nearly complete and will be submitted to the court soon. Forensic Science Laboratory reports have been received, aiding in finalising the chargesheet.

Arrests and Judicial Custody

Seventeen individuals have been arrested in connection with this case, all currently held in judicial custody. Thoogudeepa was transferred to Ballari central prison after allegations surfaced of him receiving special treatment in Bengaluru jail. A viral photo showed him with a cigarette and mug alongside notorious figures like Nagaraj J alias Wilson Garden Naga.

A video also emerged showing Thoogudeepa on a video call from within the jail, prompting the suspension of nine prison officials. This controversy led to his transfer to Ballari central prison.

Transfers of Other Suspects

Other suspects in Renukaswamy's murder were relocated to various district prisons. Pawan K, Raghavendra, and Nandish were moved to Mysuru jail; Jagadish and Laxman were sent to Shivamogga jail. Dhanraj D, Vinay V, Nagaraju, and Pradosh were transferred to Dharwad, Vijayapura, Kalaburagi, and Belagavi jails respectively.
