Namma Metro Green Line Extension: Nagasandra-Madavara Line To Enter Trial Phase On August 6

Great news for Bengaluru residents: the Namma Metro is set to launch trial runs on the Green Line extension from Nagasandra to Madavara starting August 6. Following successful trials, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRC) aims to open this new segment by the end of September or the beginning of October, as reported by TNIE and confirmed by BMRCL Managing Director Maheswar Rao. The 3.7 km extension, costing ₹198 crore, will include new stations at Manjunath Nagar, Chikkabidarakallu, and Madavara.

"We are currently undertaking thorough cleaning and various tests. The trial runs will last for a month, and we plan to invite the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety for an inspection by the second week of September," the official stated.

This extension will integrate seamlessly with the existing Green Line, utilizing the current metro services.

Bengaluru Namma Metro: Service Availability

Residents of Nelamangala, Makali, and Madanayakanahalli, as well as travelers from Tumakuru, will benefit from the new services at Madavara. This route will be particularly useful for those heading to the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre.

Bengaluru Namma Metro: Project Timeline

Originally scheduled for completion in August 2019, the project faced delays, including the extended completion of the Madavara station. As a result, the timeline has been revised. Additionally, Nukaga Fukushiro, the Lower House Speaker of Japan, will visit Bengaluru with four parliamentarians to meet BMRCL officials on Wednesday. They are expected to take a short metro ride from MG Road to Vidhana Soudha at approximately 12:40 PM.
