Mandya is abuzz with the excitement of hosting the 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, scheduled from December 20 to 22, after a hiatus of thirty years. The event, a landmark in the Kannada literary calendar, promises to be a grand celebration of literature, language, and regional pride. The district administration, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumar, has declared a two-day holiday for schools and PU colleges on December 20 and 21 to facilitate participation in the festival. This decision underscores the importance of the event, encouraging educators and students alike to immerse themselves in the festivities.

Embracing Literature and Heritage

The festival, known as Nudi Habba, is set to take place on a sprawling 60-acre venue near Srinivas Pura on Mandya's outskirts. It’s a testament to the region's commitment to celebrating Kannada culture and literature on a grand scale. The Kannada Sahitya Parishad, the state government, and the local administration have jointly spearheaded the preparations, ensuring a seamless experience for attendees. The event will feature an array of literary discussions, cultural programs, and new concerts, aiming to instill national and language pride among the participants.

Gora Channabasava has been honored as the Sammelana's honorary president, marking a highlight of the event. In anticipation, a unique initiative to distribute flags to households across the district, including Mandya city, was launched by Minister Chaluvarayaswamy. This initiative calls for the flags to be hoisted at every home, symbolizing unity and regional pride. The gesture aims to foster a sense of community and belonging among the residents, further elevating the spirit of the literary festival.

Facilitating Participation and Accommodation

In preparation for the significant influx of dignitaries and registered representatives expected in Mandya, the administration has ensured adequate arrangements for their accommodation. Schools and colleges across the district will serve as temporary lodging to accommodate the guests, showcasing the community’s hospitality. This provision also facilitates a broader participation base, allowing attendees from various parts of the country to experience the literary and cultural extravaganza up close.

The Sammelana not only celebrates literature but also explores themes pertinent to contemporary society, such as natural disasters and politics in literature. It provides a platform for students, teachers, lecturers, and literary enthusiasts to engage in meaningful discourse, enriching their understanding and appreciation of Kannada literature and heritage.

As the 87th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana draws near, Mandya transforms into a focal point for literary and cultural celebration. The meticulous planning and collaborative efforts of the Kannada Sahitya Parishad, state government, and district administration promise a memorable event that pays homage to the rich literary tradition of Karnataka. The festival stands as a beacon of language pride, unity, and cultural heritage, inviting participation from across the country.
