After Criticising Bengaluru’s Poor Infra, Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw Agrees With DyCM Shivakumar

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, Chairperson of Biocon, expressed concerns on social media regarding Bengaluru's infrastructure issues. She shared an experience with a foreign business visitor who questioned the poor road conditions and garbage in the city. The visitor compared it to China and wondered why India couldn't improve its infrastructure despite favourable conditions.

In response, Karnataka's Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar addressed Shaw's concerns, stating that constant criticism of Bengaluru was not justified. He highlighted that Bengaluru has provided opportunities and success to many people and deserves collective efforts for improvement rather than ongoing criticism.

Infrastructure Projects in Bengaluru

Shivakumar also mentioned several infrastructure projects currently underway in Bengaluru. These initiatives aim to significantly enhance the city's condition. Shaw agreed with the Deputy CM, emphasising the need for a collective effort with urgency and quality to address the city's challenges.

The Karnataka government launched Mission "Free Traffic-2026" in September this year. This 90-day action plan focuses on repairing roads and reducing traffic congestion in Bengaluru. The plan includes involving private companies in road maintenance and creating public awareness campaigns.

Shaw's post highlights the importance of addressing infrastructure issues in Bengaluru to attract investment and improve living conditions. Her interaction with the Deputy CM underscores the need for collaboration between government and citizens to bring about positive change in the city.
