Karnataka's Nandini Milk To Debut In Delhi On November 21, Brand Expands Its Reach Beyond Home Turf

Karnataka's home-grown dairy brand, Nandini, is set to commence sales of its milk products in New Delhi on November 21, according to Money Control.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the brand in the capital on Thursday, marking Nandini's debut in the Delhi market.

Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF) managing director MK Jagadish, speaking to the publication, said, "Starting from November 21, Nandini milk products will be available across New Delhi. We are also introducing dosa and idli batter in Karnataka from November 26."

Currently, Nandini products are available in states including Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Maharashtra. Prior to this, the company conducted a trial by transporting dairy products from Karnataka to New Delhi to test their shelf life.

"As an experiment, we transported these dairy products to Delhi by road, which took us 56 hours. However, we managed to maintain the quality," a senior KMF official stated earlier.

Nandini will now compete with established brands such as Amul and Mother Dairy, which dominate the dairy market in New Delhi.

During the T20 Cricket World Cup held in the United States, Nandini launched a whey-based energy drink, 'Nandini Splash', in the American market.

"We wanted to make Nandini a focal point during the World Cup. Whey-based energy drinks were introduced in the US market during the tournament, and it will become a global brand," MK Jagadish remarked.

Additionally, Nandini sponsored the cricket teams of Scotland and Ireland during the Cricket World Cup, marking the first instance of a home-grown Indian brand sponsoring international teams.

Nandini, which gained attention during the Karnataka assembly elections, became a symbol of regional pride after a controversy during the tenure of the former BJP government. The row erupted when Amul announced plans to sell curd in Bengaluru.

Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai later clarified that Amul would not replace Nandini in Karnataka, asserting that both brands would coexist.
