Karnataka is experiencing a chill in the air today as cold conditions persist across the state, with moderate rainfall expected in several regions. The weather is expected to remain cool and breezy, making it a typical winter day in Karnataka.

Cold Weather Prevails Across Karnataka

Karnataka Weather Update

As the winter season tightens its grip on the state, many parts of Karnataka have experienced a dip in temperatures, especially during the early mornings and nights. Cities like Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Shivamogga are likely to see chilly conditions throughout the day.

The IMD has reported that temperatures in Bengaluru are expected to hover between 18°C and 25°C, with chilly mornings and evenings. In northern districts such as Bagalkot, Dharwad, and Belagavi, the temperature could dip further, reaching as low as 16°C at night.

Rainfall Expected in 9 Districts, Including Bengaluru

While most of the state will continue to experience cool and dry weather, nine districts, including Bengaluru, are set to receive moderate rainfall today. These districts include:

  • Bengaluru Urban
  • Chikkaballapur
  • Kolar
  • Tumkur
  • Mysuru
  • Chamarajanagar
  • Mandya
  • Hassan
  • Kodagu

The rainfall is expected to be light to moderate, with some areas receiving short bursts of rain. The weather department suggests that these rains will be sporadic and may not cause significant disruptions, but residents are advised to stay prepared for localized waterlogging in certain areas.

Weather Alerts and Safety Measures

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these nine districts, advising people to remain cautious of the weather conditions. There may be occasional thunderstorms and gusty winds, especially in the southern parts of the state.

The Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has recommended that citizens stay indoors during heavy rainfall and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to waterlogging. Travelers are urged to check weather updates before heading out.

Long-Term Weather Forecast

Looking ahead, the weather is expected to remain cold for the next few days, with a gradual rise in temperatures as the New Year approaches. The IMD forecasts that the rain will subside by the end of this week, and the state will experience relatively clearer skies in the coming days.

However, weather experts warn that the state may witness more cold spells in the upcoming weeks, as January tends to be the coldest month in Karnataka. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions against the winter chill, particularly in areas that are more vulnerable to low temperatures.
