Karnataka: Sumalatha Ambareesh snubs Revanna over his derogatory remark

Bengaluru, Mar 09: Sumalatha Ambareesh, who is aspiring to make political debut in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, turned a deaf ear to PWD Minister HD Revanna's derogatory remarks against her.

Reacting to Revanna's remarks, Sumalatha said, "Nobody should be making such comments on any day against women." She added that his comments are impertinent to her."

In a derogatory remark against Sumalatha, PWD Minister HD Revanna said, Sumalatha entered politics just months after her husband's death."

Revanna added that Nikhil Kumaraswamy is being forced to contest from Mandya because of Sumalatha's challenge. Nikhil Kumaraswamy's candidacy from Mandya, JD(S)'s stronghold, was finalised during a dinner meet between CM HD Kumaraswamy and JD(S) leaders on Thursday.

Oppostion BJP was quick to attack HD Revanna for teh remark.

BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje defended Sumalatha Ambareesh, saying HD Revanna should apologise to Sumalatha for his derogatory remarks. She added that Sumalatha is Mandya's daughter and has every right to serve the people.

Also, BJP MLC Ravikumar and Council opposition leader Kota Srinivas Poojary slammed Revanna.

Ravikumar said, "They'll support Sumalatha Ambareesh. Ravikumar slammed PWD Minister HDRevanna for his remarks against Sumalatha, saying it's an insult to all women. He pushed for an apology from Revanna.

"Revanna has spoken about Sumalatha in a reckless manner and has insulted her," Kota Srinivas Poojary said.
