Karnataka Weather Alert: IMD Predicts Rain Across Several Karnataka Districts Until December 9
Cyclone Fengal's impact, although diminishing, continues to bring rainfall to various parts of Karnataka. The state's meteorological department has forecasted persistent showers until December 9, affecting over 20 districts.
This includes not only coastal regions but also extends to both and rural areas. Districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, and the Bangalore metropolitan area, among others, are expected to experience wet conditions. The rainfall has already made its presence felt in Bangalore, with cloudy skies and morning showers setting the day's tone.

Despite the weakening of Cyclone Fengal, its effects are evident across Karnataka, with significant temperature fluctuations noted. In Bangalore, temperatures have varied, with a maximum of 25.8 degrees Celsius recorded at HAL and a minimum of 18.4 degrees Celsius. Other areas, including KIAL and GKVK, have also reported similar temperature ranges.
Coastal and inland regions alike have not been spared, with places like Honnavar and Karwar experiencing maximum temperatures of 29.5 and 29.8 degrees Celsius, respectively. Furthermore, Shirali saw a day's high of 32.4 degrees Celsius, highlighting the cyclone's widespread impact on the state's climate.
Rainfall reports from across Karnataka underline the cyclone's extensive reach. The highest recorded rainfall was in Mulki, Dakshina Kannada, where a significant 26 cm of rain was measured. Other areas such as Mangalore, Panambur, and Karkala also reported considerable rainfall, showcasing the varied intensity of showers across the state. This weather phenomenon has not only affected the coastal districts but has stretched to the hinterlands, impacting daily life and agriculture alike.
Temperature readings from different regions further illustrate the cyclone's effect on Karnataka's weather pattern. Cities like Bidar and Vijayapur noted maximum temperatures of 27.0 and 27.5 degrees Celsius, respectively. Bagalkote, Dharwad, Gadag, and Kalaburagi, among others, also reported maximum temperatures ranging from 26.6 to 30.8 degrees Celsius, with minimum temperatures staying above 20 degrees Celsius. These fluctuations are indicative of the changing weather conditions across the state, driven by Cyclone Fengal's lingering presence.
As Cyclone Fengal continues to influence the weather across Karnataka, the state braces for more rainfall. The meteorological department's forecast suggests that this wet weather will persist, affecting daily routines and possibly causing disruptions in several districts. While the cyclone is weakening, its capacity to cause substantial rainfall remains, underscoring the need for preparedness and caution among the residents of Karnataka.
