Bengaluru's Underground Shivajinagar Metro To Host Major Sports Complex On 2-Acre Site

Bengaluru is on the verge of unveiling an innovative sports and cultural facility perched above the soon-to-be-finished underground Shivajinagar Metro Station. Spanning over two acres, this exciting space will boast a variety of sports amenities, alongside an auditorium and a cultural center, enhancing the urban landscape.

According to The New Indian Express, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is nearing completion of the Shivajinagar Metro Station, after which the land overhead will be returned to the government. Plans are underway to develop this area into a multifunctional sports complex.

Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad recently visited the site and provided insights into this groundbreaking initiative, inspired by similar projects in Western countries. The new facility is expected to become a key center for both sports and cultural activities adjacent to the Metro station.

The proposed sports complex will host facilities for cricket, football, basketball, and swimming, catering to both boys and girls. Additionally, an auditorium will be available for various events, complemented by a cultural center designed to host concerts, transforming the area into a lively cultural hotspot for residents.

While the project's budget has yet to be established, officials are optimistic about completing the facility in the next 2-3 years. Currently, architects are busy crafting the structural designs to turn this vision into reality.
