Bengaluru Woman Physically Assaulted By Youth For Pelting Stones At Stray Dogs, Accused At Large

A 34-year-old woman from NRI Layout, Ramamurthynagar, was allegedly assaulted by a young man after she threw stones at stray dogs in an attempt to escape their attack.

According to her complaint, the woman, who works for a private company, stated that Yatish, a man in his 20s, attacked and insulted her on October 23.

She and a friend were riding a scooter when they were pursued by a group of stray dogs, reported The Times of India.

In an effort to protect themselves, they threw stones at the animals, which led Yatish to confront them aggressively.

"The dogs were becoming dangerous, and it felt as though they were about to attack us. That's why my friend and I threw stones at them. Just then, this young man came out of his house and started arguing with us," she told The Times of India.

The incident escalated when Yatish allegedly slapped the woman, injuring her left eye and chin, and took the keys to their scooter.

"By then, his family members had come out and intervened. That's when I realised he'd taken our scooter keys, and another altercation broke out when I demanded them back," she said.

After the incident, she sought medical assistance at a hospital before filing a complaint with Ramamurthynagar police.

The police have registered a case against Yatish under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including section 74 (use of violence or criminal force against women to outrage their modesty), section 79 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), section 126 (wrongful restraint), and section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt).

However, the suspect remains at large.

An investigating officer noted: "Initially, he came to the station when the victim approached us. However, upon realising that an FIR was being filed against him, he fled. We'll locate him soon."
