Bengaluru Under Cyclone Fengal's Grip: Widespread Flooding, Disruptions Across The City
The rain that started in the capital city, Bengaluru, on Saturday due to the impact of Cyclone Fengal continued into Sunday, with intermittent heavy showers until Monday morning. The combination of rain and cold weather resulted in a quiet Sunday, with reduced foot traffic and a slowdown in business activities. Malls and hotels saw fewer visitors, and public transportation was disrupted due to waterlogged roads.
The weather on Sunday was predominantly cloudy, with a biting chill that made the cold more intense. After noon, heavy rains accompanied by gusty winds caused further disruptions. Many people planning to go out with their families over the weekend were disappointed by the unrelenting weather.

The rain, combined with a gentle breeze, created a cold atmosphere, with people turning to warm clothes as the sun remained hidden for the past three days. This led to a widespread chill in the city, which residents weren't accustomed to.
The weather forecast indicates that Monday could see the heaviest rainfall in the coming days. Bengaluru is expected to experience moderate to heavy rains, and a Yellow Alert has been issued. The rainfall is expected to be spread over two days, with heavy showers predicted.
On Sunday, rainfall in Bengaluru varied across different areas. At HAL Airport and Marathahalli, 1.2 cm of rain was recorded. Other areas, including Belakahalli, Gottigere, Doddbidarakkallu, Vidyapeetha, Arakere, and Koramangala, recorded 1 cm of rainfall. KSNDMC reported that there was generally light rainfall in other parts of the city.
Bengaluru witnessed a significant drop in maximum temperature on Sunday. The usual December maximum temperature for the city is around 26.5°C, but on Sunday, the maximum was recorded at 22.4°C, with a minimum temperature of 19.5°C. At HAL Airport, the maximum was 22.9°C, with a minimum of 19.2°C.
