Bengaluru Property Owners Advised To Settle Taxes Before OTS Deadline
With only a few days remaining, Bengaluru property owners are urged to settle their property taxes under the One Time Relief Scheme (OTS) offered by the Greater Bangalore Metropolitan Corporation (BBMP) and the state Congress government. This scheme, designed to alleviate financial burdens by waiving interest and penalties on tax arrears, will expire shortly. Failure to comply by the deadline will result in significantly increased liabilities for property owners from December 1 onwards.
BBMP officials have been clear about the consequences of not settling property tax dues within the specified timeframe. The warning issued indicates that property tax amounts owed could more than double if payments are not made promptly. This initiative, aimed at encouraging timely tax settlements, highlights the financial repercussions of delay. Property owners in Bangalore are, therefore, advised not to delay their payments to avoid facing these steep increases.

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath has outlined the importance of taking advantage of the OTS before its impending conclusion. With the deadline fast approaching, he emphasized the urgency for property owners to act swiftly to benefit from this scheme. After the closure of the OTS, the BBMP has set an ambitious goal to collect property taxes amounting to 4,000 crore, underscoring the critical nature of this time-limited offer. Girinath cautioned against waiting until the last moment, pointing out the potential for server issues as many taxpayers rush to settle their dues online.
For those looking to settle their property taxes, the process has been made convenient with options for both online and offline payments. The BBMP's official website, BBMPtax.karnataka.gov.in, serves as a portal for online payments, providing a straightforward way for property owners to fulfill their tax obligations without the need to physically visit a BBMP office. This flexibility is aimed at encouraging more residents to take timely action and avail themselves of the benefits of the OTS.
As the deadline looms, the possibility of encountering technical difficulties due to a high volume of last-minute transactions is a concern. Property owners are, therefore, encouraged to act without delay to avoid the hassle of server issues and ensure their tax payments are processed smoothly. This proactive approach will not only secure the advantages of the OTS but also contribute towards the BBMP's substantial tax collection target, ultimately benefiting the wider community in Bangalore.
