Drishyam 3 Box Office Collection Day 2: Mohanlal's Film On Fire In Kerala, Karnataka

Mohanlal's newly-released Malayalam movie has done well on its second day at the India and overseas box office despite getting mixed reviews. Especially, Jeetu Joseph-directorial has performed well in Kerala and made a notable business in Karnataka.

After taking a thunderous opening on Thursday, the film witnessed the expected drop on Friday but still managed to maintain solid momentum. On Day 2, the Malayalam version collected a net ₹11.05 crore across 4,886 shows in India. With this, the film's total India net collection now stands at ₹26.90 crore, while the India gross collection has reached ₹31.18 crore in just two days, according to Sacnilk data.

The occupancy figures indicate that the film continues to enjoy strong traction in Kerala, especially in key centres such as Kochi, Kozhikode, Thrissur and Kottayam. Kochi emerged as the best-performing market with an outstanding overall occupancy of 85.3 per cent. Evening and night shows in the city were almost houseful, recording 93 per cent and 91 per cent occupancy respectively.

Kozhikode too delivered excellent numbers with 82.5 per cent occupancy, while Kottayam registered 81 per cent overall occupancy. Thrissur and Kollam also remained highly consistent with occupancies of 75.8 per cent and 77.3 per cent respectively. Trivandrum posted a healthy 62.8 per cent occupancy, showing that the film continues to dominate the Kerala market, the data read.

Outside Kerala, the response remained decent in major cities. Bengaluru recorded 31 per cent occupancy across 314 shows, while Chennai performed relatively better with 46.3 per cent occupancy. Mumbai and the National Capital Region reported comparatively lower occupancies at 22.8 per cent and 22 per cent respectively, although night shows witnessed improvement.

The state-wise gross collection report further underlines Kerala's massive contribution to the film's success. Out of the Day 2 India gross collection of ₹12.81 crore, Kerala alone contributed ₹8.85 crore. Karnataka followed with ₹1.50 crore, while Tamil Nadu added ₹1 crore. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana contributed ₹0.85 crore, and the rest of India accounted for ₹0.61 crore.

Meanwhile, the overseas market has turned out to be another major strength for the film. On Day 2 alone, the movie grossed ₹20 crore overseas, taking the total international gross to a staggering ₹45 crore. With this, the worldwide gross collection of the film has surged to ₹76.18 crore in just two days.

Although the second-day numbers saw a drop compared to the opening day's ₹15.85 crore India net collection, the hold is still considered strong for a weekday release. Trade analysts believe the weekend business will be crucial in determining whether the film can sustain its momentum in the coming days.

Despite the mixed word of mouth, Drishyam 3 has once again demonstrated the massive popularity of the franchise and the star power of Mohanlal at the global box office.
