Bengaluru Namma Metro Staff Faces Fresh Controversy After Allegedly Stopping Worker At Doddakallsandra Station

An incident at Doddakallasandra Namma Metro Station has stirred controversy after a staff member allegedly prevented a passenger, who reportedly had a missing shirt button, from boarding the metro train. This incident comes on the heels of a recent controversy where a farmer was denied entry to the metro due to wearing dirty clothes.

According to reports, the youth involved in the incident at Doddakallsandra station was waiting to board the metro when he was stopped by staff. A passenger at the station noticed the situation and filmed the scene, later sharing it on social media.

Namma Metro Controversy

Criticism has been mounting against the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), with questions raised about whether the metro is only accessible to the affluent and discriminates against individuals such as farmers and workers.

In response to the allegations, a BMRCL spokesperson stated that the metro does not discriminate against anyone and that people from all walks of life are welcome. The spokesperson explained that the staff's action was prompted by suspicions that the individual in question had been drinking alcohol and might cause trouble to other passengers.

This incident follows a similar controversy at Rajajinagar Metro Station, where a farmer was stopped from entering the metro due to wearing old and dirty clothes. The public had expressed outrage over the incident, questioning whether the metro is only for VIPs or well-dressed individuals.

In response to the Rajajinagar incident, the BMRCL had dismissed the security supervisor involved after finding fault with their behaviour.
