Namma Metro Blue Line To KIA: Airport City Metro Station Construction Underway

Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) has taken a significant step towards improving its connectivity, inviting pre-qualification bids for the construction of the Airport City Metro Station (ACMS) on the Bengaluru Namma Metro Blue Line.

This new station, part of the Phase 2B project (Airport Line), will be strategically located within the Bengaluru Airport City and directly serve Terminal 2 of Kempegowda International Airport (KIA).

The Airport City Metro Station, also known as KIA West Station in some official documents, will be built at-grade as part of the Blue Line's 3.6 km section leading up to Terminal 2. This design choice ensures easy accessibility and a seamless experience for passengers. With a planned built-up area of approximately 14,000 sqm, the station will offer ample space for passenger movement and amenities.

Key Construction Scope:

As per BIAL's Expression of Interest (EOI) notice, the construction works will encompass:

Platform level: Two entry structures and two platforms with associated infrastructure.
Below grade: Two cross-platform utility galleries.
Above grade: Concourse level with connecting walkways above the road to the entry structures.

BIAL has implemented a two-stage process for contractor appointment. The 'pre-qualification stage' will assess submitted bids, and eligible firms will proceed to the 'tender-stage.' During this phase, firms will present financial bids as part of the Request for Proposal (RFP) directly to BIAL.
