Bengaluru Metro And BMTC Extend Services Till 2 AM For New Year's Eve

As Bengaluru gears up for New Year's Eve celebrations, extensive arrangements have been put in place to ensure revelers can move around the city with ease. The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has announced that additional buses will operate until 2 am, complementing the extended metro rail services that are also set to run till the same time. This move is aimed at accommodating the large crowds expected to throng popular spots like MG Road and Church Street, ensuring a smooth transit experience for everyone involved.

In anticipation of the influx of people celebrating the onset of the new year, BMTC has laid out plans to deploy extra buses from key locations across Bengaluru. These include major hubs like MG Road, Brigade Road, as well as areas such as Electronic City, Jigani, and Sarjapur, among others. The additional services are scheduled to be available from 11 pm on December 31 till 2 am, providing a hassle-free way for party-goers to return home or move to other parts of the city.

To further facilitate this, additional bus services will connect several other parts of Bengaluru, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Locations such as Kempegowda Bus Station, K.R. Market, and Shivajinagar will see buses heading to destinations like Kadugodi, Kengeri, and Banashankari, to name a few. This extensive network aims to ease the movement of people throughout the city during the late hours of New Year's Eve.

Meanwhile, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has also taken steps to manage the crowd effectively and maintain decorum within the metro premises. A strict policy will be enforced against those found to be intoxicated and causing disturbances. BMRCL has made it clear that passengers under the influence of alcohol will not be permitted to board metro trains on the night of December 31.

Furthermore, a fine of Rs. 500 will be imposed on individuals who are found drunk and creating a nuisance, especially those harassing women. To bolster women's safety during these celebrations, BMRCL has appointed a women's security and patrol team for every metro coach. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure a safe and secure environment for women traveling by metro on New Year's Eve.

The extension of both metro and bus services until 2 am is a crucial component of Bengaluru's preparations for New Year's celebrations. With these measures in place, residents and visitors alike can look forward to welcoming 2023 with joy and enthusiasm, knowing that their travel needs within the city are well taken care of.

Bengaluru is all set to ring in the New Year with comprehensive transport arrangements. From extended metro services to additional buses covering a wide area, the city is prepared to handle the festive rush. These efforts reflect a commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable celebration for everyone, highlighting the importance of public safety and convenience during such significant events.
