Bengaluru Gears Up For Faster Connections With New Sarjapur-Hebbal Namma Metro Line

Techies rejoice! Bengaluru's Namma Metro network is set to expand again, with a new 37-km line planned between Sarjapur and Hebbal. The enhancement of Namma Metro connectivity in Bengaluru is in progress with the development of a detailed project report (DPR) for a new line connecting Sarjapur and Hebbal.

Projected at Rs 16,543 crore, encompassing land acquisition expenses, the 37-km line is delineated in the Comprehensive Mobility Plan 2020 and aims to facilitate travel for individuals commuting to and from tech zones.

The alignment features an elevated corridor near the IT corridor in Sarjapur, transitioning underground at Koramangala, traversing the central business district through tunnels, and emerging on Ballari Road with elevated stations at Ganganagar and Hebbal.

This new line distinguishes itself through integration with the Blue, Pink, Purple, and Phase III lines at four pivotal junctures. At Iblur, it links with the Blue Line heading from Central Silk Board to Kempegowda International Airport, as reported by Times Of India.

At Dairy Circle, the station connects with the Pink Line, providing connectivity towards Bannerghatta Road or MG Road. In proximity to KR Circle, it integrates with the operational Sir M Visvesvaraya station of the Purple Line.

Close to Hebbal, it connects with the Blue Line, Phase III (Kempapura to JP Nagar), and the suburban rail station (Baiyappanahalli to Chikkabanavara).

The integration with existing Metro lines and those under Phase II A and B is anticipated to bring substantial benefits to commuters. For example, the proposed KR Circle Metro station, situated near UVCE, will be linked to the Sir M Visvesvaraya station through a subway.

To alleviate congestion on Ballari Road, the Sarjapur-Hebbal line is planned to feature seven stations, including Basaveshwara Circle, Bengaluru Golf Course, Palace Guttahalli, Mehkri Circle, Veterinary College, Ganganagar, and Hebbal.
