Bengaluru Finally Gets Some Rain After Scorching Heat

Residents of Bengaluru finally received respite from the scorching heatwave as light rains was witnessed in South and East Bengaluru on Saturday. The much-needed showers brought welcome relief to the city, which had been grappling with water shortages.

Rainfall was reported in several parts of the city, including Banaswadi, Whitefield, Varthur, Sarjapura Road, Marathahalli, Bellandur, Bommanahalli, BTM Layout, Koramangala, Jayanagar, JP Nagar, HSR Layout, Banashankari, Uttarahalli, and Rajarajeshwari Nagar. South and East Bengaluru experienced rainfall in the evening around 4 pm.

Areas like Banaswadi, Cooke Town, Sarjapura Road, Basaveshwar Nagar, Kadubeesanahalli, and JP Nagar all reported rainfall, sparking joy among citizens who expressed their happiness on social media.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the wet spell could continue in Bengaluru until April 23rd. While significant changes in maximum temperatures aren't expected, the IMD forecasts a gradual rise of 2-3 degrees Celsius across the southern state in the coming days.

Rain Expected Across Parts of India:

The good news extends beyond Bengaluru. Other Karnataka cities can expect wet spells until April 23rd. Meanwhile, a cyclonic circulation over east Iran and Afghanistan is expected to influence northwest India's weather starting April 22nd.

Here's a quick rundown of the IMD's forecast for other regions:

North-West India: Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are predicted for Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh on Saturday. Scattered rainfall is possible in Uttarakhand until April 24th.

North-East India: Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, and West Bengal during the week.
Central India: Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are forecast for Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh until April 22nd and in Madhya Pradesh until April 21st.
