ATMkaro.in- A novel way to inform people which ATM is functional

ATMs have only been dispensing the Rs 100 notes. It would take sometime before the new Rs 500 and 2,000 notes are dispensed.

Bengaluru, Nov 14: With several people queueing up outside ATMs to withdraw cash, many on the social media have come up with various ideas to share information.

People have been tweeting about the ATMs that are open and functional so that it helps people. There were scores of tweets and messages on Sunday on social media in which information regarding ATMs being open were shared.

A group of people on Twitter shared an interesting website which gives details of the ATMs that are open. Called ATMkaro.in, this crowdsourced platform has information about the ATMs that are open and functioning. @clemeza informed on Twitter that they had built a crowd source platform to list down the working ATMs called ATMkaro.in.

The website allows anyone to add the ATM that is functional in any city. The idea is to help people know which ATM to go to and draw out money. The URL of the website is being shared widely on social media.

Several ATMs have been down since last Tuesday after Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi announced that the Rs 500 and 1,000 notes will not longer be legal tender. People were scrambling all over the place to find ATMs that were open.

ATMs have only been dispensing the Rs 100 notes. It would take sometime before the new Rs 500 and 2,000 notes are dispensed.

According to Finance Minister of India, Arun Jaitley, ATMs would be fully equipped to dispense the Rs 500 and 2,000 notes in another two to three weeks.
