First the Boss, Now the Team: Meta Snatches Away Two Apple AI Researchers
Meta's recruitment strategy has taken a new turn, now targeting Apple for AI talent. Two AI researchers from Apple Inc., namely Tom Gunter and Mark Lee have been roped in for Superintelligence Labs team, according to Bloomsberg report. While Lee has already started at Meta, Gunter is expected to join soon.
Meta's focus on artificial intelligence is evident through its aggressive hiring practices. The company is investing heavily in AI development to regain a competitive edge over rivals like Google and OpenAI. Previously, Meta recruited several employees from OpenAI and is now targeting Apple's talent pool.

Meta's Strategic Moves in AI Recruitment
In recent times, Meta has successfully attracted Ruoming Pang, who was the Chief of Large Language Models at Apple. To secure Pang's expertise, Meta offered him a multiyear package exceeding $200 million. Interestingly, Pang had managed both Gunter and Lee at Apple, with Lee being his first hire there.
Meta's intentions are clear: they aim to dominate the AI sector by acquiring top talent from leading organisations. This strategic move raises curiosity about what innovations Meta plans to develop and how their AI models will perform against competitors.
The Current State of Meta's AI Efforts
Currently, Meta lags behind in the AI field with only an efficient chatbot that doesn't surpass its competitors' offerings. However, with the influx of skilled professionals from renowned companies, it remains to be seen how Meta will enhance its AI capabilities.
