Pawan Kalyan Defends Allu Arjun In Stampede Case: Calls For Accountability And Compassion

Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has spoken out about the unfortunate stampede that occurred during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule in Hyderabad's Sandhya Theatre.

The incident led to the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman. Kalyan stated that while the event could have been avoided with proper precautions, he refrained from placing blame on actor Allu Arjun or the Telangana police.

Kalyan Urges Allu Arjun to Show Compassion

Kalyan suggested that Allu Arjun or his team could have reached out to the family of the deceased woman sooner, to express condolences. "The family should have been contacted promptly, and there should have been a more immediate response to show support," Kalyan said. However, he emphasized that blaming Allu Arjun alone was unfair. "In cinema, it's a team effort. Allu Arjun has been unfairly made the sole culprit," Kalyan remarked.

The Role of Theatre Management

The Deputy CM also pointed out that the theater management should have implemented better safety measures, particularly when Arjun attended the screening. He argued that the staff should have informed Arjun about the situation beforehand, though he acknowledged the loud cheers from the crowd could have made communication difficult.

Defending the Telangana Police and Security Measures

While many criticized the police for their handling of the incident, Kalyan defended their actions. "The police are tasked with security, and their primary responsibility is to maintain order," Kalyan said. He also shared his own experiences with security protocols during his tours, stating that such measures are necessary to ensure public safety.

Public Figures and Responsibility Towards Fans

Kalyan also reflected on the responsibility of public figures like Allu Arjun to manage crowds. He noted that his elder brother, Chiranjeevi, would attend events in disguise to avoid large crowds. "Stars should acknowledge the love and affection of their fans, but they must also manage their presence to avoid such incidents," Kalyan stated.

Call for Humanity and Regret

Despite defending Allu Arjun, Kalyan emphasized that the actor should have shown more humanity in the aftermath of the incident. "Even if the actor wasn't directly involved, there should have been an expression of regret sooner. This is what the public expected," he said, adding that someone from the actor's team should have reached out to the victim's family earlier.

Allu Arjun's Arrest and Legal Proceedings

Allu Arjun was arrested on December 13, 2024, eight days after a case was filed against him and 10 others, which includes charges of culpable homicide. The actor was granted interim bail for four weeks, with the bail set to end on January 10, 2025. During a recent press conference, Arjun denied the charges, calling them part of a smear campaign aimed at tarnishing his reputation.

Pawan Kalyan Praises CM Revanth Reddy's Support for the Film Industry

In the midst of the controversy, Kalyan also praised Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his strong support of the film industry, particularly during the release of Pushpa 2. Kalyan dismissed rumours that Reddy's stance on Allu Arjun's arrest was motivated by personal reasons, stating that if Reddy had been in the same position, he would have acted similarly.

Moving Forward: Responsibility and Prevention

Concluding his statement, Kalyan called for a collective effort to prevent such incidents in the future. While the stampede was a tragic accident, Kalyan emphasized the need for better safety measures at public events to protect fans and avoid further loss of life.
