Andhra Pradesh Weather Update: IMD Predicts Heavy Rains For Next 3 Days
A warning for heavy rain has been issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for parts of Rayalaseema and South Coastal Andhra Pradesh. This alert is effective for three days starting Wednesday. Thunderstorms are also expected in some areas during this period.
The weather conditions are due to a low-pressure system over the southwest and adjacent west-central Bay of Bengal, near southern Andhra Pradesh and northern Tamil Nadu coasts. This system is causing significant rainfall in these regions.

Rainfall Data and Impact
Sullurpeta in Tirupati district recorded the highest rainfall with 5 cm, followed by Kavali in Nellore district with 4 cm in the 24-hour period ending at 8:30 am on Tuesday. Nellore City was next in line with significant rainfall.
Peddapuram in Kakinada district reported 2 cm of rain, while Kandukur and Gudur each received 3 cm. These figures highlight the intensity of the ongoing weather conditions across various districts.
Weather Systems Affecting the Region
The IMD has identified a cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal, extending southeast up to 5.8 km above sea level. This system is expected to move westward towards Sri Lanka and Tamil Nadu's coasts, potentially developing into a low-pressure area.
Additionally, a trough extends from the southwest Bay of Bengal to the east-central Bay of Bengal, affecting weather patterns up to 1.5 km above sea level. These systems collectively contribute to the current weather scenario.
Precautions for Farmers and Residents
Farmers are advised to exercise caution due to the rain forecast, especially during paddy harvesting and other agricultural activities. The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority has urged residents to stay alert and prepared for adverse weather conditions.
The ongoing weather developments necessitate vigilance among both farmers and residents as they navigate through these challenging conditions. Awareness and preparedness can help mitigate potential impacts on agriculture and daily life.
