Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu Allocates Rs 20 Crore For Police Welfare And Technology Upgrades
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has announced an annual budget of Rs 20 crore for police welfare. This move underscores the state's dedication to law enforcement support. During a Police Commemoration Day event at Vijayawada's Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium, Naidu praised the police for their relentless efforts in ensuring public safety.
Naidu highlighted the Andhra Pradesh police's reputation, stating, "Andhra Pradesh police is a brand and it has the history of suppressing factionalism, rowdyism, and Naxalism in the state." He also mentioned that Rs 100 crore had been allocated to the police department over the past four months.

Focus on Modern Technology
The Chief Minister announced plans to fill 6,100 vacant constable positions and promised to provide modern technology to the police force. He emphasised the government's responsibility to equip law enforcement with necessary tools and technology upgrades.
Naidu acknowledged challenges like rising cybercrime rates. He stressed the importance of updating technology to combat this trend effectively. "Only when we have the upper hand, we can control the criminals," he stated.
Tribute to Fallen Officers
Naidu paid homage to police personnel who died in service, explaining October 21's significance as Police Commemoration Day. He recounted the 1959 Sino-Indian border clash in Ladakh where Indian forces fought bravely despite knowing they might lose their lives.
Criticism of Previous Governance
The Chief Minister criticised former governance for neglecting police infrastructure. He pointed out that while Rs 12 crore was spent on fencing a house, essential equipment like fingerprint identification and CCTV cameras were ignored.
Naidu revealed that pending bills worth Rs 763 crore were left by the previous administration. His government cleared over Rs 100 crore in recent months, prioritising police reforms and infrastructure improvements since 2014.
He expressed concern over attempts by certain forces to destabilise the police system. Naidu assured that his government would firmly support law enforcement against such threats.
