Need to unite for solution of power crisis: Pawar
Nashik, Jun 29: Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar stressed the need to unite for solution of power crisis.
''Though there are many ways to create energy, electricity production from agro-waste should be encouraged. There is need to decrease the use of charcol. To suffice the energy need, everyone, especially farmers, should come together and participate in such projects,'' Mr Pawar said addressing public meet of Armstrong Energy Private Limited, a 6mw power project at Shilapur, in the district.
The first private commercial power project in Maharashtra produces electricity from agro-waste. It's an environment friendly project. It has been set up at a cost of Rs 26 crore. It produces 6mw electricity per hour. It will provide electricity to 'Mahavitaran' at the rate of Rs 3.25 per unit.
Many dignitaries were present on the occasion. Mr Pawar also inaugurated the Biotechnology building of KTHM college and named the Nashik District Vidya Prasarak Samaj's Arts, Science, Commerce College in CIDCO as Shantarambaap Warne College.
