Mamata has lost momentum, says veteran CPI(M) leader

The veteran leader said the TMC, which had promised prior to the 2011 assembly elections that it was against the decision to acquire agricultural land, had deviated from its stand. Rezzak said this while speaking in the debate for budgetary grants for the home department. He alleged that bargadars and pattadars were being shooed away while land issues were being settled in police stations.
The leader added that peace did not return to the Jangalmahal area in West Bengal, a hot bed for extremist politics and political murders in the past, while inadequate infrastructure did not support the CM's move to create four commissionerates in the state to improve the law and order situation. Mollah, nevertheless, praised Banerjee as a good administrator.
Mollah said, although the state government succeeded in recovering illegal arms but yet the problem was not solved for the ruling party was allegedly keeping them in a large number.
He also advised the CM to focus more issues like 100-day rural job scheme instead of urban development in terms of setting up monorail and flyover projects. He said job schemes announced by the TMC-led government on its first anniversary needed to be monitored. "The Ma-Mati-Manush slogan of the TMC will not be successful if the farmers' problems remained unresolved. Agriculture and transport are areas that need particular attention," he said.
The CPI(M) leader also said that the CM knew very well that there was no alternative to Left and hence opposed issues like pension privatisation.
