India needs to increase farm output, says PM Narendra Modi

"The land in the country is not going to increase... so we need to increase per hectare productivity," Modi said at a function of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
The prime minister called upon agricultural scientists to develop technology to achieve this goal.
Modi said it is important to see how the experiments in the laboratory are implemented in the fields.
"The challenge is how to get what is done in the lab to the land, to the farmer," he said.
