Government not doing enough for farmers: Congress
New Delhi, Dec 7: The Congress on Monday, Dec 7 accused the Centre of neglecting issues related to farmers and not helping them out even as floods and drought affected several parts of the country.
Congress MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, raising the issue during a discussion in the Lok Sabha, said 222 lakh hectares of land was affected due to floods and drought but the Centre was doing nothing to support the affected farmers.

"Seven states have asked for Rs.25,000 crore but no help has been given as yet," the Congress leader alleged.
Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh intervened to say that central teams sent to assess the damage had begun to return and that funds would be released immediately after they submitted their reports.
