GDP grows 7.9 pc in Q1: Ramesh Kolli
Tirupati, Sep 18: The All India Gross Domestic Product (GDP) was estimated at Rs 7,82,357 crore as against Rs 7,24,494 crore in Q1 of 2007-08, showing a growth rate of 7.9 per cent over the corresponding quarter of previous year, Central Statistical Organisation (CSO) Additional Director General Ramesh Kolli said here on Thursday, Sep 18.
Speaking to newsmen after participating in a two-day workshop on estimation of District Domestic Product (DDP), he said economic sectors which registered significant growth in Q1 of 2008-09 were Services (10 per cent) followed by Industry (8 per cent) and Agriculture (3 per cent). Andhra Pradesh Director for Economics and Statistics Saroja Rama Rao said a record of 133 lakh tonne of rice production was registered in the State.
The contribution of Gross District Domestic Product in Agriculture was 4.2 per cent, Industry 3.41 per cent and Services 3.88 per cent, she said.
