Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood refuses reconciliation talk

Egypt
Cairo, July 17: Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood has decided not to hold any discussion over national reconciliation.

According to Gamal Heshmat, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the group refused any talk about national reconciliation because it happens under "illegitimate" power.

"We can't talk about national reconciliation while the people's will is stolen. No national reconciliation can occur unless the legitimate power comes back to the rule," said Heshmat, while referring to the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood by the army following days of protest in the country.

The Egyptian Presidency said earlier Tuesday that it had started establishing contacts with different political groups, including the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist forces, to discuss national reconciliation, expecting "most Islamist forces" to join the process.
