Maoists attack police convoy in J'khand; 8 policemen killed

Ranchi, July 2: Maoists attacked a police convoy in Jharkhand's Pakur district, on Tuesday, killing eight police men, reports said.

Maoists opened fire on the police convoy passing through Kathikund area. Pakur SP Amarjit Balihar, who was part of the convoy which came under attack, was also killed in the firing.

Jharkhand police association gave a statement that "Such attacks are aimed at breaking our morale."

Maoists attacked the police motorcade killing eight cops.

According to reports, the Maoists attacked the motorcade of Pakur Superintendent of Police Amarjit Balihar when he was returning from a meeting.

Maoists opened fire on the police convoy when it was passing through the Kathikund area. Balihar as well as seven other police personnel were killed in the attack.

Additional forces were immediately rushed to the spot.
