China: Mother regrets flushing newborn in toilet

Local police traced the baby's mother and the latter deeply regretted for her act. Details of the case were still under investigation, Jinhua police said on the social media website Weibo.
Police said the mother, whose identity has not been revealed, said she had gone to the toilet after feeling a stomach pain and subsequently gave birth to the baby. The police said the mother could not hold the baby and he slipped into the sewage through the toilet hole.
The woman said she failed to bring back the baby and decided to flush the toilet to clear the blood. She then called the landlord, saying she heard a strange noise that seemed like a baby and sought help. A section of the pipe was broken to bring out the baby later. But he was still stuck inside and they were both taken to the hospital where the doctors and rescuers dismantled the pipe.
When police arrived at the apartment, they discovered a pair of blood-stained pants.
