Delhi Gangrape: Accused tried to run victim over with bus
New Delhi, Jan 1: Delhi police on Tuesday, Jan 1 revealed few more shocking information regarding the brutal gang rape in the national capital. The cops stated that after throwing the victim out of the moving bus, the accused had tried to crush her under the bus.
The police officials were quoted as saying that it was the male friend who pulled her to the side in the nick of time and saved her. The postmortem report of the 23-year-old victim is expected soon. The autopsy was conducted in Singapore before her body was brought back to India for last rites.
Earlier Delhi police stated what the accused had tried to cover up their heinous crime. According to police sources, the main accused Ram Singh had made a master plan to escape from facing any legal actions. An official of the investigating team led by Inspector Anil Sharma was quoted as saying, "Initially, he denied everything. But when he began to open up, he chose to divulge each detail, with no repentance."
Such brutality does not affect him. He tried to destroy evidence by washing the bus with confidence and told his accomplices to not worry and lie low for some time. He stayed calm when he went and parked the bus in RK Puram and then took it back to the owner in Noida. The confidence he shows is not of a novice definitely," added the police official.
According to sources, Ram Singh along with his other accomplices had stripped the victim and his friend just to remove blood strains and trace of incriminating semen. The six accused also had snatched three mobiles from the victim and his friend and switched it off.
The investigating team later had recovered the mobiles and cloths from the accused. The cops also informed how the accused were instructed to get back to their works on the very next day. Later, when Ram Singh noticed that their crime was in news, he stopped plying the bus and took it to Rohilla Khurd near Sector 62, Noida and washed it thoroughly to remove bloodstains.
Police had taken help from Ram Singh's employer Dinesh Yadav who called the accused and instructed him to drive the bus back. A police official said, "Police had asked Yadav to ensure Ram Singh came back with the bus. He was tricked into coming to RK Puram, where we arrested him."
Ram Singh along with other five men had raped a 23-year-old medical student who first battled for her life in Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi and later was shifted to Singapore for better treatment. Her friend, who too was beaten brutally and was thrown out of the bus along with the girl, identified the culprits in Tihar jail on Dec 20.
Several protests have been held at different parts of the country demanding justice for the victim. Protesters demanded capital punishment for the culprits.
