OIL's Well Control Training Institute inaugurated

Dibrugarh (Assam), Jun 19: The Oil India Limited's (

) first Well Control Training Institute, the first in the eastern part of the country, has been inaugurated for training professionals, particularly drilling and production group engineers.

The institute, inaugurated by OIL Director B N Talukdar at Duliajan last evening, is expected to provide world class technology, training and exposure to its employees.

The institute will conduct Rotary Drilling Well Control Course and Well Intervention Pressure Control Course and the Drilling Simulator, one of most sophisticated training tools, was expected to be installed in the institute by August, 2012.

The institute, fourth of its kind in India and first in eastern India will provide Well Control Certification programmes accredited by International Well Control Forum (IWCF), a legally constituted non-profit making organization registered at The Dutch Chamber of Commerce in The Hague, The Netherlands.

OIL's Deputy Chief Engineer, Drilling Sanjib Gogoi would head the Institute as Technical Coordinator Chief Instructor while the other instructors have been drawn from the company's Drilling and Production departments.

The Institute would currently train OIL personnel but it has provisions for extending the services to outside agencies and individuals in the near future.
