Jailed Hosni Mubarak suffers 'emotional breakdown' in prison

Hosni Mubarak
Egypt, Jun 6: Ex-president of Egypt, Hosni Mubarak is suffering from an 'emotional breakdown' in prison, days after he was awarded life term imprisonment over the death of protesters in 2011, said a senior Interior Ministry official.

Hosni Mubarak's 'health deteriorated while in prison', said the official.

"Doctors from the police hospital have been called to treat him, along with the prison doctors after he suffered an emotional breakdown," said a security official.

Yasser Bahr, the defence counsel of Mubarak, confirmed the news that the Ex-president 'had an emotional crisis that affected his general health'.

The security official said that his son, who is lodged in the same jail, has been moved close to his father.

Mubarak along with his interior minister Habib al-Adly were sentenced to life imprisonment over the killing of protesters in the popular Egyptian uprising in Cairo in 2011 that led to his downfall.
