World's most influential people: Modi leading ahead of Obama

Bangalore, Apr 2: The much awaited TIME Poll 2012 result, which will enlighten people about most influential people in the world will be announced on Apr 17. But Indians have already received a good news which reveals that till Monday, Apr 2, Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP leader Narendra Modi is leading ahead of US President, Barack Obama. [UPDATE:

While Modi bagged 20,032 votes till Monday, Obama managed to get 13,433. However, 33-year-old general manager of Reddit.com - Erik Martin tops the list with 1,20,158 votes following by Pakistan's Imran Khan, popular pop star Lady Gaga and many others.

The poll result will show the most influential people in the world from different paths such as leaders, artists, innovators, icons and heroes. The magazine urges people to cast vote till Apr 6 as official voting will be closed after the above mentioned date (Apr 6). The complete TIME 100 list will be chosen by the editors of the magazine. The god of Indian cricket - Sachin Tendulkar, anti-corruption crusader - Anna Hazare, famous actress Vidya Balan, Bihar Chief Minister - Nitish Kumar are some of the other Indians whose names also have appeared in the list. The First Lady of the US, Michelle Obama, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, the Chief of the British tabloid The News of the World - Rupert Mudroch also are their in the Time list.

Here it can be recalled that Modi recently figured on the cover page of Time magazine which praises him in an article for development of the state he has been ruling for over a decade, but wonders if he can become the Prime Minister.
