Kanimozhi harasses 2G witnesses? Lands in big trouble again

Chennai, Feb 22: It seems that DMK supremo M Karunanidhi's daughter, Kanimozhi once again landed in fresh trouble over the same old 2G spectrum scam. The DMK MP along with another DMK minister has been accused of harassing witnesses of the second generation telecom spectrum scam.

The latest allegations against Kanimozhi, one of the main accused in the 2G spectrum scam, came in the limelight when Janata Party chief, Subramanian Swamy mentioned her name in a letter sent to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Swamy, in his letter to the PM, claimed that Minister of State (Tamil Nadu) for Finance who belongs to DMK, S S Palanimanickam has been harassing the witnesses with the help of officials of several government departments including income tax, customs and central excise.

Swamy also claimed, "These acts of Shri S S Palanimanickam appear to be to help Ms Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, daughter of the DMK president. By pressurizing the witnesses, the aim is to derail the process of fair trial in the 2G spectrum case."

Citing the allegations against her, it seems that Kanimozhi, who is on bail, may face serious trouble if Swamy proves his charges against her. Meanwhile, Swamy suggested the PM to remove Palanimanickam from the ministry of finance to any other portfolio and also suggested, "(after his removal) he cannot misuse the official machinery for intimidating the witnesses in the 2G spectrum case."
