Not in UP but Priyanka Gandhi to contest in K'taka by-polls?

Bangalore, Feb 21: It seems that history may repeat soon if Priyanka Gandhi accepts an offer by Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) to contest the upcoming by-polls from Udupi-Chikmagalur.

KPCC President G Parameshwar, while addressing media on Tuesday, Feb 21 informed that he sent a list of names to the Congress high command stating his recommendation for the candidates and Priyanka Gandhi was one among them.

It could be a Gandhi v/s Gandhi battle as JD(S) has already declared actress Pooja Gandhi's candidature from the same constituency for the upcoming by-polls. While Jay Prakash Hegde is the main candidate for Congress, BJP has named Sunil Kumar Kaarkala.

Here it can be mentioned that Priyanka Gandhi's grand-mother and the former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi had also contested from Chikmagalur and won the by-poll election which ultimately paved a political path for Mrs Gandhi during her tenure.

Priyanka Gandhi, who has grabbed nation-wide attention during her election campaign for Rahul Gandhi in Uttar Pradesh did not reveal her intention to enter politics, but now all eyes will be on her as time will explain whether she would select Karnataka as her entrance to step in to active politics.
